Senior Payroll Officer

We are partnering with a premier, 100% Australian-owned engineering, infrastructure, and technical building services group. Operating a large, multi-site national footprint, they are highly regarded for delivering complex commercial, industrial, and public-sector construction and maintenance projects across the country.

They are currently seeking a highly capable and technically strong Senior Payroll Officer to join their corporate team based in Silverwater on a permanent full-time basis. This is a 5-day-in-office position that offers the convenience of free on-street parking nearby.

You will be joining a warm, welcoming, and friendly team environment that values a balance of heads-down and enjoying catching up over a homemade baked good. If you have previously processed payroll within a construction, industrial, engineering services, or trades environment, you'll fit right in, especially with the system.

This role is perfect for a senior professional who prides themselves on deep payroll expertise, possesses strong logical thinking skills to navigate complex calculations, and brings a meticulous level of attention to detail to every pay cycle. The organisation is currently running a legacy payroll system with concrete plans to migrate to a modern, integrated platform next year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take absolute ownership of interpreting and applying highly detailed Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs) for multiple entities.

  • Meticulously manage multi-layered, manual calculations including diverse leave types, back-pay adjustments, and varying entitlements.

  • Oversee intricate Rostered Day Off (RDO) calculation frameworks, tracking accurate balances & accruals.

  • Navigate and maintain the current legacy payroll software efficiently, ensuring absolute data integrity through rigorous checking processes.

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on all payroll-related technical questions, tax variations, and superannuation regulations.

What we are looking for

  • Exceptional, deep-dive payroll technical knowledge regarding Australian compliance, multi-state payroll tax, and statutory requirements.

  • Proven, extensive experience handling and translating complex EBAs.

  • A strong logical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills to unpack manual payroll anomalies and historical calculations.

  • A meticulous approach to data entry and verification, with an unwavering commitment to accuracy.

  • Comfort and alignment with a full-time, 5-day-per-week office structure based in the Silverwater area.

At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
